Sub Rosa

“what is the secret council in your heart whispering to be here”

A series of 3 one-to-one soul mentorship sessions guided by Rose.

If your looking for space to slow down to truly be with yourself, giving space to your heart’s calling to be heard - this is for you.

Meet yourself deeper in a space of love and bring who you are into the world.

Rose is heart of my practice. It is a potent gateway - an axis mundae into your inner landscape.

Rose facilitates softening and deepening into your own heart space. She guides you to relax and slow down so you are able to listen more deeply to what is within you that wants to be heard.

Sessions consist of space for you to explore your story - giving it space, and then drop beneath it. With meditation, breath-work and journeying with rose, we will uncover a theme that you would like unravel. We finish with subtle bodywork to integrate and deepen what is being discovered.

Each session is 60-75 minutes. During the session I will be actively witnessing you. Connecting to rose, to you, and the space that is created between us, I will use my insight and awareness to support and guide you into this meeting, helping you to deepen and to integrate what is taking place.

Available in person or online.

"I'm grateful and amazed to reflect on what I've received during my three Rose sessions with Emily. It starts in what seems like a fairly ordinary way. Going into the warmth and beauty of the apothecary, being greeted by Emily's gentle and reassuring presence, making myself cosy and sitting down to share a cup of tea. But Rose is far from just a cup of tea! Especially in the company of Emily as guide.

I have been privileged to receive healing help of various kinds over the years, and so I know a good practitioner when I meet one. Emily holds true presence in service of those she is helping; she is present to herself, to me and my process, and importantly to Rose, who is far older and wiser than either of us. Through Emily's presence and intuitive skill with her questioning - another sign of a good practitioner - together we follow the thread that Rose offers to me, and are given great gifts.

Each time I've been guided gently by Emily to meet my own depths through Rose. In Rose I find a plant-being friend and powerful archetype. Rose has met me in the places I hadn't known I needed. I have been able to release deeply held grief and I have laughed; I have felt my strength, and I've received much insight which has been practically useful to me in my life. During the sessions I feel heard, held, seen, challenged and a Yes to deep parts of myself I've been longing to embody but not been ready to step into. Now, with Rose as my resource, I am embodying those aspects more deeply. I feel empowered and refreshed.

Your journey with Rose may be very different to mine, but I've no doubt that with Emily as your guide, it will be in true alignment for your heart's longing."

Sub Rosa Journey Reflection:

The Meaning Behind Sub Rosa

Rose and humans have a long an intricate history. Dating back to antiquity particularly in ancient Persia and the middle east, humans have cultivated roses for at least 3000 years. I hugely suspect that it is far far longer. Throughout this long and interconnected history, the rose has been deeply symbolic in many cultures as a symbol of maternal creativity and essential feminine power - the secret essence of life.

Rose has long played a role in sacred and spiritual rites of passage. The petals and leaves from wild roses have been found in tombs belonging to ancient Egyptians, and throughout many cultures all over the world there is a connection between rose and our soul journey, or the path of the heart.

The term Sub Rosa is a latin phrase which literally translates as “under the rose”. It is used to denote something that is done in secrecy or with confidentiality. Roses were painted on the ceiling of Roman banquet halls to remind those present that all shared under the influence of wine should remain ‘sub rosa’. In the middle ages a rose suspended from the ceiling of a council chamber again reminded those present that what was being discussed was to remain secret, and in christianity it carries this same meaning with roses often carved into confessionals signifying for conversations to remain private.

It feels to me that this use of rose has been absorbed in patriarchal practice that wish to remain separated and in secret. But it is an echo of remembering the sacred feminine and of the sacred rites of passage of that were outside of normal life. In modern times we ‘miss’ the meaning of something held in secret. Not that it is something that is not ‘allowed’ to be shared but that it is a part of our being, and initiation or integration that cannot and does not need to be shared or explained to anyone outside of ourselves.

Sub Rosa is to reclaim our sacred and secret knowings that we all hold in our hearts. To rediscover our own sovereignty. In an age where oversharing and disclosure are becoming commonplace, it is important that we hold space for those sacred parts of ourselves that deserves privacy and confidentiality to be honoured. Sub Rosa sessions with me are a sacred space for you to be heard, and in doing so can be the catalyst for you to root into your own knowing, bringing it fully alive in your life.
